I need help getting a simple dvd to stream.

Postby jgvicke on Mon Nov 02, 2009 11:53 pm

I have been using an older version of VLC to stream a DVD from one computer to another over a dedicated network. I have just upgraded to the newest version to get it working in Windows 7, but now my method of streaming doesn't work anymore. I need help getting it set up in the new version.

Version 0.8.6i links used:
I used this link to open the DVD in drive E: and stream to IP "100.100.100.1"
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" dvdsimple://E: --sout #duplicate{dst=std{access=udp,mux=ts,dst=100.100.100.1:1234}}

I then used this link on the receiving end to open the network stream
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" udp://@

This worked like a champ, but now I am trying to make this work with version 1.0.3
Any ideas why my old method doesn't work now? or how I can fix it?

Thanks

That is the problem, there are no messages. I am trying to do a loop back to the same computer just to eliminate one possible problem, so in the link I am using my own IP address, and the VLC window that should be streaming is opening the disk and has a progress bar with the correct amount of time, but nothing plays on the instance that is supposed to open the network stream. It just sits there waiting to receive video that never gets there.

If someone could give me a known good link string that I can use to run a test that would be appreciated. I can change the IP address to the one I need.

Thanks,

John

Never mind, the links worked fine, the problem was my wireless router had reassigned my IP by the time I tried to use it the first time. I have it working again now.

Thanks,
