Seems nice :)
On linux, is there a way to get rid of this compile error :
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/local/lib/libavformat.a(allformats.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 against `aac_demuxer' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
I downloaded the latest ffmpeg (and also libav*) sources and installed it but it didn't changed anything.

It seems your whole pub account has disappeared along with all the builds. What's up?

Mhmm, I'd like to know too. And VLC is currently trying to download pre3 and downloads 'something' but then chokes and says the installer is unsigned. Which is irritating.

Would anyone care to post a Ubuntu 10.04 64bit .deb package? I have problems with building it myself :(

The error at configure:
"checking for XCB... configure: error: Package requirements (xcb) were not met:
No package 'xcb' found"

Even though I have installed xcb using aptitude.

Hi all,
I tried the release with webm live streaming at the following address
http://195.10.10.75:8800/live.webm
and I got the following errors:
mkv error: Not a Matroska file : DocType =
mkv error: cannot find KaxSegment

It works with Firefox version with webm support
and the following web page
http://zaheer.merali.org/webm/

So what do I have to do to play the stream?
Regards
Xavier

alt+tab from fullscreen under vista fails, you have to be in 'not fullscreen' to work correctly

Hi

Just installing 1.1.0 RC and i see 2 bugs or maybe there is another solution, but for the visualisation, there is not preset available in the Audio Option, just "Predefined" so if I load a MP3, there is no visualisation automatically. normal ?
and second "bug", the default size of the visualisation is big even i reduced and re-open VLC after.. it's big again.

thanks for your work!

Looks like 1.1.0 RC1 for Windows has been withdrawn - or has it? I downloaded it on my (Win XP) work machine three days ago, and compiled on my home Ubuntu partition last night, but now on my Vista partition I find that the link on the "Luggage" download page (http://www.fr.videolan.org/vlc/releases/1.1.0-RC.html) is just a blank one, viewing source. Can't find a link to the compiled .exe anywhere else, either. I'd really rather not have to compile on Windoze, but I guess I'll have to. What gives?

Huge memory leack.
While playing music or movies, memory use is rising without any end. It doesn't seem normal. See your task manager to notice that.
VLC vlc-1.1.0-rc-20100530-0203-win32 (nightly build of 30th of May).

it seems normal to me

vlc 1.0.5 and the latest 1.2.0 nighly build are doing this too
memory usage is increasing as long as the file plays
but when the file is stopped the memory decreased
to clear/reset memory completly u have to quit vlc and restart it

btw: the 1.2.0 nighly versions are a good improvement :-)

i tested vlc-1.2.0-git-20100530-0002-win32

seeking videos no longer create artefacts
"damaged" mpg files now play (a weekness of vlc 1.0.5 not to play unusual or bad encoded mpg files properly)
real rmvb files now play without stutter

it does give input-focus to the next application, but the video screen is still fullscreen over everything else, so you do not see the application that has the focus.

between the 1.0.5 version and the 1.1 version is a world of difference with de gpu utilization, but is no sufficient yet. For example, viewing a FullHD mkv video with my laptop (celeron SU2300 and GS45 chipset) with the Win32 nightly builds branch-20100602-0203, the CPU use is a 80~98% whith freeze and artifacts. With the "splash player" with GPU aceleration, the CPU use is 20~30% without freeze or artifacts.

sorry for my english.

regards!

because the VLC need to use more the GPU power. I have problem to view a mkv fullHD video in my laptop (but not using other player that use efficiently the GPU), but using my desktop with a powerfull CPU i have no problem to use VLC viewing the same video.
