HOWTO? Help VideoLAN from phishing and GPL infringements

Postby snis » 30 Mar 2007 22:54

Hi,
I just read j-b's (Jean-Baptiste Kempf) blog on how others try to take advantage of VLC.
See: http://www.jbkempf.com/blog/post/2007/0 ... d-phishing

I directly thought that if we / the mostly silent users put up a link on our homepages (and/or other sites that we pehaps administer).
Like the "spreadFirefox.com" effort. We more thhan 28000 registered users on this forum and almost 50% of us have typed in a homepage in our profile. If only 20% of those users added a link to videolan.org that would give 2800 more pages linking to the right place.

I don't know what you developers and users think about this, perhaps it has already been disscused.[/url]

Okay I saw that there was some information on the above topic on the official site, but I feel that it needs more attention. See Goodies

Perhaps a sticky post in the forums and always on the frontpage on the homepage in a sidebar or something.

Since I started this thread I thought I have to contribute with some graphics.
This is made from the Stephane Soppera cone, see link above.

And the source (a Gimp XCF-file) vlc.xcf

Sure, everyone feel free do use them as you want as long as Stephane Soppera doesn't have anything to say against it. Pehaps someone could add more color schemes to them..
The XCF file is layered so every element in the file can be modified.
