VLC 2.0.0 sleep/standby issue

Postby globalist » 27 Feb 2012 23:21

Hi,

this may be due to the new version of VLC or it's something esle that's new and not right on my PC, but all of a sudden VLC does not prevent the PC from entering standby mode. My PC is set to go to sleep after 30min of inactivity but previoulsy watching a video in VLC was considered activity and it would not do it.

Yes I have "Disable screensaver" enabled (ticked off) in VLC options and no I haven't done any extensive testing (i.e. try other players) just yet. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue.

Thanks!

Edit: Right, so I set the timer to 1min for testing purposes and played a movei in VLC. PC went to sleep after the 1 minute mark. Tried the same using MPC HomeCinema and the movie kept playing. So this is definitely an issue with VLC.

No. I can't add video filter to the playback chain via VOUT, so I have to test something else later.

OK, so apparently 2.0.1 does not fix this issue. Time to look for an alternative media player yet?

I've reverted to 1.1.1 until this is resolved in 2.0.x

Edit... FFS the same crap is now happening on 1.1.1 ... is this a result of the previous install of 2.0.0 or am I going crazy?
