After installing 1.1.5 the audio for streams off the web had glitches every few seconds. It didn't seem to matter if the stream was asx or mp3. I uninstalled 1.1.5 and deleted every reference to vlc I could find on the system (Program Files folders and %appdata% folders). I rebooted and ran the install again. rebooted before testing 1.1.5 and it still had glitches in the audio. I didn't know where to make any changes that might help in the vlc preferences but I found the statistics and saw lost buffers. I got the statistics about the lost buffers, uninstalled 1.1.5 and deleted vlc folders. I rebooted and installed 1.1.4 and got statistics for the same sites.
