"subpicture heap is full" errors with external subtitles

Postby GenjiPress » 17 Dec 2009 01:49

I'm experiencing a problem with VLC and external subs.

I have a subtitle file in .SRT format -- UTF-8, I checked the codepage manually -- which has 1,157 subtitle entries. When I play this with any media -- a DVD, a standalone file -- its behavior is very strange.

The first 15-17 minutes of the media play with subtitles just fine. Then the subtitles simply vanish -- they don't render at all, even if I toggle subtitles off and back on again. The same thing happens if I seek through the file.

On seeking I notice that the program's message log is flooded with the error (around 450 instances of this):

main error: subpicture heap full

I did some peeking around for any relevant info about this error and haven't encountered anything.

I've tried this on the 1.0.3 build, the 1.0.4 and 1.1 builds, and the same thing happens in each case.

I am running the 64-bit version of Windows 7.

I can provide a detailed log dump if needed.

Could you provide us the subtitle file?
