Some WMV's will not play in 1.0.0 version.

Postby ocdave67 » 17 Jul 2009 02:14

Wanted to report that since I updated to the latest version of VLC that some of my WMV files will not play correctly in the new version. What happens when I try to play the media is that the VLC player will bring up the first frame of the video but that one frame will "stick" in the video window while the audio continues normally as well as the video seek bar. I can move the video seek bar forward about a minute or so into the clip and then the video will then display and play out normally. Since the player does not crash there is no bug report to send and I am not sure what clip information might help to solve this problem. What I have done to verify that the issue is with the new VLC version is..

1)Played the clip in both Windows media player and Media player classic. Normal playback in each.
2)Uninstalled and then reinstalled new version. Player still had the issue stated above.
3)I uninstalled the new version and reinstalled version 0.9.9 and the videos played normally again in the older version.

Please ask me for more information if needed. Thanks.

+1

VLC freezes randomly, many frames are skipped.

At the same time, Windows Media Player plays ok.
I returned back to version 0.9.9 because it plays the same WMV-files smoothly.

Try 1.0.1 nightly builds, where this should be fixed.

My problems went away after I downloaded your trunk update here.. http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win ... -win32.exe . I tried your branch update first and the clips would run but I had serious color (blue hue) problems in all media. I then tried the trunk exe update allowing it to remove previous version as I also did with the branch version. and now player runs great!! :D

Cool, 1.0.1 release is not far away. About the colour blue, try to change video output.

You can try for example WinGDI or OpenGL outputs.
