Problem playing .mov files & making VLC default

Postby WillK » 03 Dec 2007 17:21

I have a problem with playing the .mov files that my camera outputs, at the start they play just fine but then the picture freezes. VLC played still appaears to be playing the video file but I can only see a still of where it freezes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also is there an option within VLC itself to make it the default media player? Because I just want through doing it in the control panel without thinking about that.

Cheers!

:?: Same Problem here:

After about 15 to 20 sec's of playing a .MOV-file from my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 the picture freezes but the sound keeps playing. I know it's not the camera, cuz on the camera I can play the whole movie, also when I upload to Youtube, etc.
I am using version 0.8.6d and Win XP:

I have searched in the forum and someone said to "downgrade" to an earlier version (0.8.4a?) which I cannot find for download anymore though.

Can anyone help?

earlier versions can be found easily.

You can also try nightly builds.

I had this same problem with video files from the Panasonic TZ1. I went back to VLC version 0.8.4a, downloaded from the Endpoint site via the above link, and now the files play fine. Many thanks to all you guys for putting the question and providing the solution. :D

What's the deal? After I encountered the same problem, I reverted to version 8.4a and life was good again...

What gives?

MJPEG decoding has some issues.
