Audio popping VLC > 0.8.2 (Both XP & Vista)

Postby MasterRat » Fri Jan 05, 2007 5:21 am

Here's the scoop...

Sound Card = SB Audigy 2 ZS Plat. Pro/KitchenSinkOnMyDeskButNoToaster
Latest drivers and DirectX in all cases.

Running Vista x64 and VLC 0.8.6 -
Play a bin (VCD) file

Wth!? I didn't play popcorn :-/ Audio's just a mess.

So, thinking its Vista, I reboot to XP (also VLC 0.8.6)
Same problem..

Hmm, ok...

*search forums*

*switch to waveout for audio output*

Problem solved... I had a similar problem with 0.8.5 in XP, so I thought I'd reload 0.8.2 and test with that again.
Uninstalled 0.8.6 (Delete prefs and cache) and re-installed 0.8.2

File plays fine now. Interesting...

*reboots back to vista*

Try playing the file w/0.8.6 again after switching audio output to waveOut....
Same audio popping problem...
Tried turning off the float32 option - Made the problem worse actually.

Uninstalled 0.8.6 (Again, nuke prefs) and installed 0.8.2
File plays fine!

Thoughts? I'm confused....

Update your audio drivers. For Audigy cards this may still be an issue and you may need to look for alternate sources.
