VlC Took over my computer! Please Help!!

Postby packer36 » 11 Nov 2013 16:53

Every time i try to open up firefox or itunes, it takes me straight to vlc. when i restart my computer, all the icons turn into vlc cones. I've tried uninstalling it and unchecking the boxes and doing "custom settings" instead of "default settings", but that didn't work. I tried to right click the program to change the "open with" thing, but that wasn't even an option when i right clicked it. I downloaded it on the official site, and have the latest version and i have Windows 7. This is upsetting me. Please Help.

What happens if you do Windows Key + R to get the run command, type in firefox, and press enter? How about calc or notepad? Does VLC only come up for Firefox or iTunes, or for every EXE program? If it comes up for every EXE, perhaps try a Malwarebytes scan.

Or, click Start -> Default Programs -> Set Default Programs, click on VLC, Firefox or iTunes. Then click "Choose defaults for this program" and see what defaults are set for extensions or protocols.
