send VLC 2.1.0 back to the drawing board were it belongs

Postby elcoco79 » 21 Oct 2013 20:16

Since I updated VLC to 2.1 I have a lot of issues. For example, no surround sound anymore. All audio options are kept the same during installation, but surround sound is gone with the wind. Also avi files are not supported anymore? I only get sound, no video when playing those

In short, I am going back to 2.0.4 ( luckily I kept this installation file)

I love VLC and what it can do, but one advice: don't release a new version if it doesn't work and some main options are bugged. I will probably never update again untill my old version doesn't work anymore. Go back to the drawing board and make it work before releasing more **** into this world

Apparenty even the older versions don't play surround anymore... they worked fine untill the last update to 2.1... So I removed this version and now the older versions are --please stay polite-- up too... congratulations... and thank you for ruining my vlc experience which was excellent untill a few weeks ago
version 1.1.11 still works with surround, but I guess I will have to start looking for another player

Do you really think this is how you will get help?
Vague ranting without explaining your problem?

Hint: no.

I am not sure how I can explain the problem any other way? Ok I was very pissed so I acknowledge I could tune down my language use. But what other info do you need then?

Everything worked fine until the last update (from 2.0.4 to 2.1.0), now the 5.1 sound is gone, and avi files only play sound with video. I hoped re-installing 2.0.4 would fix the problem but it didn't. Version 1.1.11 is installed now, and works fine. If you need other info, then simply ask
