VLC video freezes on first frame

Postby Epamitut » 08 Sep 2012 20:45

Hello forum.

In my case, the video freezes on the first frame, it happens only in some AVI videos. :(
But I can play right those same videos from the Media Player Classic Home Cinema, and Windows Media Player 9.
OS: winxp sp2.

Already tried the wiki tutorial for video output module (first item).

Try another video output module:
http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ-2.0 ... _output.3F

And/or disable/enable GPU acceleration:
http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ-2.0 ... age_errors

And/or adjust FFmpeg threads:
http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ-2.0 ... r_laggy.29

You can also try to enable or disable some video options such as Overlay and/or Hardware YUV -> RGB conversions.

Thanks, so much.
It works for me:

Tools -> Preferences -> Input & Codecs -> Tick Use GPU accelerated decoding.
OR
Tools -> Preferences (Show settings: All), -> Input & Codecs -> Video codecs -> FFmpeg, then locate Threads, and set it to (2, or to 1).

Which of both would be the best solution?
