Greetings.
I run VLC (and S/MPlayer) on my three XP laptops.
Laptop T from 1998 has a PII 233MHz with 160mb RAM.
Laptop G has an Intel Celeron M370 1500MHz & 1gb DDR2 266MHz RAM.
Laptop I has a PIV 1800MHz & 1gb DDR 133MHz RAM.
I use VLC "portable" (no installer).
I recently "updated" to VLC 1.1.0 from 1.0.5.
I don't just unzip the new VLC and start running it.
I go through each subdirectory to see what is different
and then copy the new files into the "install" location.
For the first time I encountered noticeable differences
in files and sub/directories. When I started VLC 1.1.0 on G,
the VLC gui was slightly different -
a sliver of the video window was showing.
When I stared a video, VLC said "rebuilding font cache please wait".
The same thing happened on laptops I & T; however, VLC crashes
after trying to rebuild the font cache on laptop T.
I have the dump report(s).
I don't know if I will be able to use VLC 1.1.0+ on T or not.
I still run 1.0.5 for now.
I know I won't be able to keep up with all new releases forever on T,
but I would like to find out what is happening with VLC for now.
Any helpful replies/insights appreciated.
Thank you.
Regards,
AEN
