Every time I want to open the playlist VLC opens "My documents" directory.
Is it possible to change the default directory?
(or even better, that VLC remembers the last opened directory?)

Use advanced open or wait for a newer version.

If you use Playlist -> Load playlist..., you can't.

Strange, this is such a sophisticated, great software with a lot of features and possibilities but a few simple things are not included in VLC

save playlist (the one now (ctr-y) = save as)
save playlist when playlist is active (now you have to give the player self the focus in order to use ctrl-y)
