.mkv file keeps repeating the first 30 seconds only

Hi,

pardon my query should it not prove fitting to this forum. I am quite new to all these and I am at loss as to whether I should post my question here or in a MKV forum.

I have a .mkv file (1280x720 H.264 AAC) which I have been trying to play and it does so only for the first 30 seconds of the movie after which it automatically reverts back to the start. It plays yet again the first 30 seconds this time without the sound. However, if I am to scroll the tab farther along to, say, 3 minutes or so, it does play forward for a few minutes after which it then again reverts back to the start.

Can somebody please help me with this?

oh and please, if you could explain it as simple as possible I would highly appreciate it as I am not so much of a technical person.

Is it some Anime serie you are trying to play? If so, does it use ordered chapters?

As a matter of fact yes it does.

You could try Tools -> Preferences (Show settings: All) Input/Codecs -> Demuxers -> Matroska and untick Ordered chapters (save and restart VLC).

After using this fix, the video continues correctly, but I lose audio. A temporary fix seems to be to disable the audio track and re-enable it, but that stops working after a few minutes. Anyone know about this?

Thank you this work although i do loose the OP/EN's of the video iam watching .
Does anyone know why VLC is doing this, and if the DEV's will try and fix this in a later version.

I would try to remux the file first with MKVtoolnix.
