Black/White & jolted video

Postby fumpp » 08 Nov 2009 17:12

Hi, I use vlc 1.0.2 Goldeneye on Debian testing.
After I installed dvdrip from the http://www.debian-multimedia.org apt repository
all videos I have are black/white and narrow.
I've reinstalled vlc without success.

This is what it look like (the fonts are crappy, I know):

Yeah, Debian multimedia ships buggy packages which break VLC. Blame Debian multimedia.

I've been able to solve this problem with some help from #debian.

HowTo:
- remove vlc, libavcodec52, libavformat52, libavutil50, libpostproc51, libswscale0
- comment out debian-multimedia in /etc/apt/sources.list
- update package information
- remove all cached deb files.
- reinstall vlc (the libs will be marked as dependency)
