VLC Plugin help for mac

I keep getting the error "No video" for every music and video file streaming in my browser (safari and firefox).

Can anyone help me?
I would really appreciate it. Also, I cannot find anyway to remove the plugin.

The web plugin isn't in a good shape.

You should be able to remove it from /Library/Internet Plug-Ins or /Users/YOURHOME/Library/Internet Plug-Ins

On 10.6 Snow Leopard you may also need to delete /private/var/db/receipts/org.videolan.vlc.*
