cant install on G5 Mac running OS 10.6

I get an error message reading "You can't open the application "VLC.app" because it is not supported on this architecture" I am not a techie. Can somebody tell me- in laymans terms- what this means and what I need to do to install?
Is this a cryptic message that means that the software is not suported by OSX 10.6 or perhaps that it only runs on Intel based MAcs?

1) Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard will not run on a G5 because it is Intel (x86/x86_64) only.

2) Download the 1.0.3 PPC version and it should run fine.
