First of all - tell which OS do You are using.
There is a lot of solutions for Win or Linux. Look at keyword "screen capture" in mailing list archives du VLC.

In my setup the encoded WMV (asfh mux) will be steamed to a large amount of viewers with http. The encoding PC is already heavy-loaded. Can anybody tell me - can I use SQUID or RealServer to make only one connection to VLC encoder? Currently I'm using VLC in VLM mode, but under heavy load it leaks a...

Try samplerate=44100 after ab=... string. It will help, IMHO.

I also found that if I encode a wmv using vlc and try to stream the file using darwing server to wmplayer, the reported bitrate to wmplayer is wrong. A file encoded at video bitrate of 100kbps shows in wmplayer properties at 756 kpbs. But if I play the file locally, the bitrate shows ok. Can You ma...

I'm using SkyStar2 PCI with VLC. There are no problem with it, if You set the "Budget" mode in Preferences->Access->DVB
